Where I lay my head is home
I've been battling this condition for over 25 years now with varying degrees of success. Just the other night I was using plyers to pull an entire nail out.

When I am in discomfort I've found watching the nail removal surgery on youtube very soothing.

Feel free to add an insights you have into this horrific condition.

I'm 51. When i was 10-15, i had them constantly. Had both nails removed probably 4 or more times. The last time this happened, my doctor cauterized the nerves. I've been lucky, just have learned how to properly cut my nails, and this is the biggest step forward for me. Crazy painful for sure, good luck

My toenails are atrocious. Something needs to be done. My baby toe nails fall out about once a year. I wish they all would. They do nothing for me but put holes in my socks. When I was younger I had an ingrown big toe nail and a podiatrist jammed a wooden splint in there. It was almost thirty years ago and I remember that pain. The nails don’t get in grown any more but they’re ******* disgusting.

I've had that condition in both big toes about 30 years ago to the point I could barely stand up, and walking seemed like a cruel punishment - so I went to the doc, they numbed both toes with 8 shots per toe (which was more painful than the ingrown nails themselves ... I felt like passing out it hurt so bad!), then he cut out a strip on both sides of each toe. He said it shouldn't return, and it hasn't in all this time passed.

Ever tried toe socks? Not a cure-all but definitely relieves any pain from toes mushed together. I only get it a little on the edges of my big toe when I do a bad nail trim job, so that works for me (FWIW Injinji is the brand I like; also good for hiking).
