These actually look real from 2 feet and are very durable. They're made of PET vinyl and the strings won't touch them that much anyway.

I would go with the color that contrasts the fingerboard color the most.

Here’s something I assume others have noticed: with dot inlays you almost never see a dot at the first fret but with the block inlays there usually is one at the first fret.

Black. It follows the aesthetic pattern of the black pickups.

If anything, just make temporary black paper inlays with scotch tape just to get an idea, and view it from a distance.
