Inset strap locks

You can check out Loxx straplocks. I moved from Dunlop to them, and the strap is now much closer to the body of the bass, enough to be negligibly different from a flush mounted straplock.

Wow, really like the look of these. Have to say never liked that the Dunlops put your strap so far from body.

I Love my inset strap locks. All of my basses have dedicated straps, so I never could forget one. This, and my Warrior, have the inset Dunlops.

Nicely done on the warrior those look really nice! I get my fodera in the mail tomorrow so I'm going to go ahead and add them in that too. Unless I hate the bass then I'm going to return it. Doubtful

Is this an inside joke with the op? It must be as I have not once in almost twenty years of gigging heard "I forgot my strap".

Following the instructions to the letter, it's no problem to set the lip of the lok on the paint. A good luthier could do the full inset thing with ease and likely charge less than $40.

Well, I've never forgotten my strap either and that is because each and every bass has its OWN strap in its case or gig bag. But I still won't put recessed locks no matter how cool they look. I know how life works. Just as soon as you install recessed locks making borrowing a strap out of the question, the committee in the sky will say "watch this" and one way or another you'll be Strapless in Seatle!

I will admit that while i've never forgotten a strap I have broken a couple. Button hole just ripped right out. Then it's borrow...or in one case... gaffer tape the broken end to the bass horn.

And judging from that photo your button recess job didn't go to well! I would have taken a few chips around the recessed lock over that damage!

I have been gigging over 30 years and have never forgotten my straps. I use the same Dunlap strap locking system on all my basses and have for about 20 years. I carry two straps with me and a extra lock set for the reason about 15 years ago I saw the little locking balls come out of one of locks of a friend. You can get the Dunlop with the inset style system for $22.50 at All Parts
