Double Bass inspiration?

Yes, and it passes IME. The cure for me is focusing on the details of tone and musicality: intonation, sound production, articulation, interpretation. Bach seems to pull me out of these funks all the time (I play it pizz). More often than not, I find that I can lose faith in a style of playing (straight ahead, etc.), but rarely for the playing itself.

Playing Music is supposed to be fun. Any time you spend with the bass in your hands you are making progress. There are certainly things to 'focus' on in practice but sometimes picking up the bass and just playing is in order. We can get so wrapped up in what we are 'supposed to do' that we can lose sight of the reason we picked up the damn thing to begin with.

For myself I find the biggest inspiration in going and seeing live music.

+1. If it ain't fun, there's other fun and expensive pursuits out there. :)

At some point you have to play something fun and silly just for purely personal enjoyment. There's time for work and then there's time to just entertain yourself. And if you're too pre-occupied to just enjoy yourself, I suppose some "letting go" is in order.

well, im just going to muscle through it. ive started checking out some of the rabbath pivot technique, so that's got me juiced up again. on another note, how do i get a webpage link to show up below my posts like some guys have here. "signature" doesnt seem to do it for me

Actually, it's {url=http://yourURL.com}yourURL.com{/url} with "[" and "]" replacing "{" and "}". You knew that when you did your own sig. I had to check your sig to remember the code myself. Minds like sieves, we has, we has.

Steve - I fixed it for you.

Right. I am currently in the mountains of Idaho on vacation (for real) on my iPhone. I figured someone smart would swoop in if I had too much vacation-head. Thanks DURRLL.
