Double Bass Installing pickup help please.

I am installing my k&k pickup in my bridge but sides of the pickup itself are not parallel to each other. I assume this is normal, so do I make my slot to fit my pickup, or do I make my opening square.
The end opposite the cable is the widest part, if that makes sense.

How out of parallel are you talking about? I've been using that pick up for about 10 years and I'm on my second one and have never noticed that, but I've never measured before, either. The more pressure you get that thing in with, the better it will sound, but you don't want to break anything. I prefer to only take wood off of the wing itself, leaving the leg curved, which allows you to control how hard you jam that thing in there, and leave it parallel.
