Looks like a sustain monster besides beautifully crafted, finally Ibanez placed Barts that actually have personality IMO but would prefer to see a Nordy instead! Damn, my G.A.S readings are off the chart!

Tell me about it... I've yet to find a set of Barts that have a discernible character... I understand people like them... I don't understand why... They're just blah for my tastes...

In the context of Ibanez basses I find the BTB series in a whole other league than the SR (of course the 2 cases wielding their respective Bart pups). Never got convinced by SR's MK pup but got in love instantly with BTB's BH and even more in together with the BTB Terra Firma's sustain and playability.

Lol.

I just decided after months of trying to figure out if I want a 6 or 7-string bass, or more importantly, WHICH instrument I wanted, that I wanted the BTB676. I seriously thought about the Terra Firma, having been wanting a single cut bass for years, but the shape of the upper area irritates me for whatever reason. I think it's that in my mind, it should have a shape more like a Thunderbird, but extending more into the body. Other than that though, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful instrument...both of them, actually. I looked at the BTB776, but the yellow "amber" finish just doesn't do it for me. If they offered the mahogany/ poplar burl with a natural finish, or even in a finish more orange than yellow, than that would have been great, and would satisfy a love of mahogany bodies, but it wasn't the case this time around. Oh well...still pretty :)

I'm open to the possibility of an Ibby I like... I like the look and feel, I've just always been let down by Bart Soapbars... I'll have to check these out... Been in the market for a single cutaway recently and I'm digging the look of this...

My top GAS right now is a Brubaker Brute MJX-SC5 (I'm a fan of the MM J setup but have never owned one myself), but I will definitely check these out if I can find one in my area

Both BTB7e and BTB686sc hear sweet enough to steal your ear at first impression. Like this: /watch?v=M7zuVwOdymU

Looks like this instantly became sixers and even non-sixers wet dream, it surely became mine replacing John Patitucci's TRB...at least aesthetically.

It really did!

With me, it was a combination (even with the Terra Firma) of the woods used, the Bart's, the pre-amp. The scale (35"), and the fact that unlike many other 6-strings, these have 17mm spacing at the bridge, versus the 16 - 16 1/2mm most other basses have. The locking jack is also a HUGE thing, in my opinion. And it has tons of tones!
