Instruction using a specific famous bass player

Would it make sense/be possible to find a bass teacher willing to teach bass through the point of view of a specific famous bass player?

I'm a huge fan of Bruce Thomas, and he has played lots of genres. It would be interesting to take lessons focused on what he has done, understand the theory behind his parts, and so on. (Paul McCartney is an obvious choice, too, of course).Would it be reasonable to ask that of a teacher? How would I begin to find a teacher like that?

If I were you, the first thing I'd do is try to contact Bruce Thomas and ask if he'd do a lesson or two with you over Zoom/Skype/etc. It might be pricey and/or hard to schedule, but obviously nobody can explain his approach to bass better than he can. I did this with my own personal hero, Julie Slick, a number of years ago. We did it mostly as a Q&A, in which I asked her about her approach to certain songs, detailed questions about some of her techniques, and so forth. It was easy for her because she didn't have to prepare anything such as lesson plans; it was pretty much like doing an interview of sorts. Had a great time and learned a ton.
