Instrument decisions

Hey! I am new to this forum.
I need a bit of advice XD
I am not a bassist but I've been wanting to be one for quite a long time. I've been playing drums for 2 years and since drums is about rhythm and not harmony nor melody, I've been wanting to play the guitar/Bass because I want to learn the harmony and the melody and I know that it is important to read chords and make music haha. But, it will cost me a lot of money so I will be able to learn like a few lessons with a teacher because I already have a drumming teacher so yeah. So what I want to know if should I start learning the guitar/bass or still stick to drums for a while because there is so much left for me to learn about drums? Also, if you suggest me to play the bass/guitar what do I need to know about guitars mainly? I know that the bass and the guitar are very different instruments.

I think you should try to pick up a bass since your a drummer. Bass and drums are all about rhythm! On stage and in practice the drummer and bassist should be really tight. Me and my drummer are pretty tight, he knows my parts and I know his. We both gave each other a few lessons on the opposite instrument. I think if you can find your way around the bass it will only make you a better drummer! Just pick up a cheep used bass and start jamming away...don't forget to count on both!!! All about rhythm for both bass and drums man...and if you play more then one instrument that means more chances to play in a band!!!

I'd say stick to drumming for a bit longer. I played drums for only a year about 7 years ago before having a long instrument hiatus and got into playing the guitar & bass 3 years ago; and I still have more than a parking lot full of stuff to learn for either instruments. People need good drummers, as well as good bassists, so you can't go wrong with either. If you must, learn a little guitar, but the dirt these past many years is that guitarists are a dime a dozen. I'm pretty sure you can find a 6-string slinger to buddy up with to compose songs together with, or at least steal some knowledge from him for free.

Haha thanx for the help guys but I do play with like a few bands but we are guided by professional musicians who also teach us theory and they are also our teachers XD And will playing bass really and I mean SERIOUSLY make me a better drummer and a musician? Haha I don't know which decision you told me to choose XD

If it's just to explore melody and harmony my opinion is to stay with drums and learn some piano as it is the most universal instrument. If you feel compelled then pursue bass or guitar.
