This is my favorite instrumental album to date. Not sure how proggy it would be considered though.

Bass players beware! It's a 40+ minute guitar orgasm.

Jason Becker is quite the sad story though, so don't read too deep into it unless you want to be in a crap mood the rest of the day. FYI, he was only 17 when this album came out.



This is also a fantastic album that might fit what you're looking for a bit more. The band is "An Endless Sporadic". They had a few songs on a guitar hero game a while back, which is how I got into them.

A lot of bands are starting to come back to me! I think Julie Slick has some instrumental stuff too.

Both of Julie's solo albums are (almost) entirely instrumental, as are her first two albums with Echotest (Fourth Dementia and Le Fil Rouge). Brilliant stuff, all.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the studio album she recorded with Adrian Belew, titled simply e, is all instrumental -- and is awesome if you dig the King-Crimsony side of classic prog.

I remembered after posting this thread that Dream Theater also has a few instrumental songs, so I will give those a listen too.
