MS stopped updating IE for Mac the day Safari was announced (2 years ago).

"In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with published support [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], Microsoft will end support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and will provide no further security or performance updates.

Additionally, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac will no longer be available for download from Mactopia. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari."

I must have remembered the offical end of support date.

I was at the keynote this morning and he did a bunch of other demos (new software, etc). When the Intel announcement finally happened, he then confessed that he'd been using the new iMac all morning.

It ran everything extremely fast and looked and acted like the old macs. My only concern as a graphic designer is the Adobe suite isn't quite native for the intel chip. It will have to run in emulation called Rosetta.

In other news, there was an ipod accessory announced for new video ipods. You can get an FM tuner so you can listen to the radio on your ipod. When you plug it in, a menu appears on your ipod called "radio". When you navigate to it, a nice color radio tuner appears and you can scroll to your station. You can store favorites and stuff.

Looks nice. Finally Apple got a processor their machines deserve and not some watt-inefficient IBM chip.

Both Apple and Intel seem to have made some hard but good choices, Apple confessing that G-series processors just can't keep up with Intel's technology, and Intel admitting P4 is a technological flop and developing a new chip based on previous Pentium M. Worst of both worlds? I'd say the best!

I'm sure that with Apple you get what you pay for. It's an innovative company, who besides wanting to make profit have some ambition to produce the best machines around. Of course you can walk to the nearest car dealer and get a Hyundai, but some of us still want to drive a BMW.
