Inter-racial dating

Man I can't walk through a Wal-mart in the south without getting looked at like I'm wearing a gay pride shirt...just because every limb of my body that shows skin is almost covered in tattoos.

This is one reason why I hate the south. This is coming from a man whose entire family lives in the south. I live in the DC region now and love it. Skin is just a color and people are so stupid when it comes to racism. Move away...seriously. Close minded racist towns like that will hopefully someday not exist.

NelsonNelson - you have gone to extreme lengths both in terms of financial expense and discomfort to mark your body in a way that is certain to draw attention to you, if not INTENDED to draw attention to you, and when that attention comes you take exception to it? At any rate, I'm glad you found a road that led you north. Remember it's always there for you.

Apparently southerner bashing and bashing the south does not qualify one as prejudiced or guilty of stereotyping. Yes, we have narrow minded idiots in the south. Will any of you who have ZERO narrow minded idiots in your area please speak up so we all will know where there are none?

nevermind...

You learn where the areas ( where the folks who tend to not like it ) are and avoid them. Unfortunately the neanderthals roam. I've been called a mud shark while at the movie theaters in the early 90's while on a date. Sadly you could look at them and instantly think "Rio Linda" which is a horrid Sac. cliche' ( stereotype ) but it is still predominantly true all these years later.

Of COURSE it is stereotyping.... but it is one with a basis in fact.

...kind of like 50% of the under 25 white male population in Michigan resembling Kid Rock. It's a stereotype, but a frighteningly accurate one :hiding:

Henry Ford was a Michigander.
Henry Ford was an admirer and supporter of Hitler and an anti-Semite.

Michiganders are admirers and supporters of Hitler and anti-Semites.

Hey, I had a basis in fact.

Now before you flame me... I'm pointing out the error of extrapolating via a "basis in fact" as well as being a little sarcastic. If you didn't laugh at the post, please don't flame me.

Yes.

Yes.

Michiganders are admirers and supporters of Hitler and anti-Semites.

Add "During Ford's lifetime" to the front of that, and it is absolutely true.

Of course the anti-semitic part was true for most Americans at that time.

It's a question of extrapolating with sufficient versus insufficient data, and understanding that statistical averages don't necessarily apply to any individual.

Heck - there is about a 99.9999% chance that the next person you meet will have more arms than the world average.

Actually, I should stop trying to dispel the stereotypes about the south. If you go to Gulf Shores Alabama from about October to March, there are more northern (ironically, most from Michigan) license plates than there are Alabama License plates.

My Daddy used to always say "Yankees are like rain, they're always coming down but you never see them going back up".

If people come down here and see how it really is we'll be knee deep in Yankees. Except the heavily tattooed ones. :D

Opps, didn't mean to hijack the thread. Please continue the inter-racial dating discussion.

And FWIW, as a life long resident of Alabama who was alive and in school during the 60's, I say date who you want and anyone who doesn't like it can go &#& themselves.
