Double Bass International Head for EA VL208

I just bought a Euphonic Audio VL-208 and I'm looking for a compact head that sounds great and will accommodate international voltage requirements.

I intend to use the VL208 and yet-unnamed-head with electric, EUB, and upright, both here and abroad. The band is talking about Europe and Japan; voltages and travel weight are both considerations.

The EA iAmp 500 & 800 have a voltage selector on the back. Not sure if the Micro 300 has this (I'm sure someone will chime in with the info).

What about a preamp with different wall warts and locally rented power amps? I loaned a preamp to a friend touring Europe and Japan and doing that worked out well for him.

...buy a walter woods. That is if money and patience are things you have in good supply. What you are looking for is what the woods does better than anything else, IMO. Especially if you are doubling all the time. Mine has worked fantastically overseas.
In fact, I think it sounds better with 220/240 volts. Just buy the plug adaptor set-even at the airport on your way out, as I did one time- and you are good to go.

Many amps on the market today, such as Acoustic Image, Euphonic Audio, and Walter Woods, have a 115 / 230 voltage selector switch built in. The new Euphonic Audio iAMP Micro 300 automatically adjusts for the local line voltage from 100 to 240 volts. Likewise, there are lots of amps that are compact and sound great. My personal favorite are Walter Woods amps.

The little Eden WTX-260 senses wall voltage with no need for a switch. I've used it a handful of times since I bought it about three weeks ago and gotten compliments on my tone every time.
Just one more to throw into the mix.

Thanks for the recommendation, Clink. I presume one just has to swap out the cord, or use a plug adaptor, in countries where something other than our nominal 110-volts is the norm.

I believe the MarkBass needs to be opened up and rewired by a tech. It can then be changed back the same way. But it's not as easy as flipping a switch.

The photo in my avatar is a tribute to my Dad, who was, indeed, a left-handed bassist who stood on the port side of "Baby" when he played, plucked and bowed using his left hand, and was one of the gentlest, most affable, men I have ever met.
