Hi there joe! I'm IconBasser! Resident relegator of advice to noobies. I'm also the designated person to relegate responsibilities to myself and pretend that said responsibilities were assigned to me by the rest of talkbass, thereby inflating my virtual self-importance despite that nobody on here even knows I exist.
Rule #1 unless you have an avatar, nobody will ever recognize you. Without that picture, you basically don't have a name here. Even with one though, there is a good chance that you still won't be known. I am a good example of this. Ask anyone who IconBasser is and they'll answer: "who?"
Rule #2 respect John Turner and Pacman at all times. You simply don't want to mess with them. and they DON'T put up with your crap. If you were to cross either of them, they would 1. Ban you. 2. send trojans to your IP address. 3. perform a criminal background check upon you. 4. Show up at your house. 5. Steal your bass. 6. Castrate you. 7. Steal your left kidney.
Rule#3 you must access the following threads (found via the search function) in order before you can be said to be eligible to participate in Off Topic: 1. The Atoz Photoshop Thread. 2. The Moshgirl photoshop thread. 3. Maki's Two Cents (volumes 1-5). 4. The Man-Laws thread. 5. X-treo's coming out of the closet thread
Rule#4 If there is to be mention of any girlfriends, wives, hot siblings, traveling belly dancers, etc. there must be accompanying pictures or you will be shunned for one week.
Rule#5 Doing something extraordinarily stupid here will result in one of two things: 1. you are established as a Talkbass legend whom is funny and well liked. Example: user Mark Wilson. Fell for an Onion article and has been loved by talkbass ever since. 2. you are established as an annoying dunce whom nobody likes. Example: user Username n/a. Although he has gotten better lately, he was widely regarded as the most annoying person on Talkbass for a good two years.
