Introvert? Extrovert? Which vert are you???

I'm kind of in between. I can start a conversation with someone I don't know but don't like to speak in front of large groups of people. I usually don't enjoy being the center of attention. I'm usually not very animated on stage but do enjoy having fun with the audience. I was playing a festival several years ago and young girl was in front of the stage and was wearing bunny ears which were lighted and changed color. Between songs I commented on how much I liked her ears and she threw them over the barrier and onto the stage. I put them on my head and played several songs while wearing them.
I've always thought of myself as introverted, and recently a coworker asked me the same question. We both thought of the other as fairly extroverted, but both described ourselves as introverts.
I've always been fairly shy in nature, but over the years have learned to communicate in a way where it apparently doesn't show.

Offstage, somewhat introverted, though I have been known to open up a little once I get comfy with my surroundings. Onstage, total extrovert. Some would say a ham.
Took me years to figure it out, but always wondered why I was totally exhausted after being around large crowds like the mall for example. Same goes for interacting with people who constantly talk about random things having absolutely no relevance to them or me. If any of the above is prolonged, need time alone to recharge. Conversely, if it is music related, crowds or otherwise, it's energizing. Thank goodness!
I took a test for it once. It said I was an ambivert with a strong leaning towards introversion. Which basically said I landed roughly in the middle but preferred introverted behaviors overall, and exhibited a tendency towards introvert type responses whenever pressured.
Extrovert. I'll take the needed space, and I'll take more if given more. I've always been an entertainer. It's all in the "dosage": it's annoying if it's too much/fake, but it's fun when done at the right pace, and also after a good "reading" of the crowd in front of you. It's a creative process for me I guess, and I'm good at it.
I took one of those Jungian personality profile tests back in about 1979 which said given my personality I should be a mystic prophet separate from society. I was rated extremely introverted which I would go along with.

If you're an introvert it's easy to be an extrovert in any endeavor when you believe in what you're doing and believe it has value for others when shared. You make it an internal goal. If not , it is a lot harder.

Definitely introvert, not looking for the spotlight. I leave that to the guitar player (extrovert). I played trumpet in school years ago and I've decided to join a community band. Another way to get out of the house and play music with people. And hide in a big group.
I am what the OP describes. An extrovert at heart, but like to lay back in the bass space.

I'm so much the opposite. I feel so awkward in one-to-one situations that I actually prefer to just have a stage and a microphone. Sometimes it's easier to do a toast at a wedding than to talk to the other guests. I feel less self-conscious. I can see it even more in my daughter, who is a singer. She can socialize, but unless it's a very small group of good friends, you can just see it exhausting her, and she gets more awkward. On stage, it's the opposite.
