iPad as synth

I was looking for a (very) small (and cheap) keyboard that I could play live for some simple intros or special effects with my rock cover band. The only small ones I could find were toys, and the adult ones were too big for my needs. I decided to go with a small 31-key midi controller to plug into my iPad and get the sounds from there. I'm looking for any forums or Youtube channels that would help me get the most out of this setup. Any suggestions?

Initially, I think I will use Garageband since I already have it, but I'm open to other suggestions. Thanks!

I sold my Moog Minitaur because there's an iphone app that costs $20 that does the same thing when plugged into a set of midi pedals. You can get a cheap midi keyboard, plug it into your phone and run all the synths from GB or any other apps from it. I have a little Line6 Mobile Keys and it works great for that.
