I’m very new to this whole reading-music-from-a-tablet thing, but ^^^that’s still the best advice I’ve come across, and that I confidently share as if I’ve been using this gear for eons! :)

Serious Question: Logs you out of *what*?

When I’m reading sheet music off my iPad the only app that’s open is the music reader (I use mostly forScore, sometimes Piascore). I’m not logged into the internet, I’m not even connected to Wi-Fi, and it’s not even sync’d to my iPhone. The iPad is just running as a dumb PDF reader with Bluetooth-controlled page turns.

Are you getting kicked out of your music reading app, or out of your Apple account, is the iPad going to sleep...or what? Thx

Good question. Can I insert - Do page turners only advance pages or do they have other functions - now, back to the logout thing. I’ve never had such an issue, even when on Wi-Fi or hotspot. I have set my pad to stay illuminated for 30 mins to avoid restarts.

My page turning pedal — I use the STOMP Mini, by Coda Music Technologies — can do page forward and page back, as well as half page turns (so that you see the bottom of page one and the top of page two simultaneously)

That is correct. It logs me out of my Apple account.

Not every day but at least once a day or more on average.

I don’t understand why it logs me out of my account ‘all the time’.

I suspect because I am logged into my account on 3 devices. It probably doesn’t like that.

That is the only guess I can make…

Apple cares more about my account security than I do.

As long as I’ve raised the issue and gotten a couple likes, can anyone comment whether iPad Air handles files any differently / more transparently than the earlier pads?

My son described it thus: "You like your Android because it works like a computer, whereas your iPad works like Apple."

You can even go so far as to install a shell (tmux) on an Android device.
