what do I need to use garage band app on my iPhone 7+ with an instrument. The phone came with a headphone adaptor cable. Would an old style iRig with the headphone poet connector work through this or do I need the more expensive iRig2 with the fancy modern iPhone port connection?

Thanks in advance!!!

Um, the iPhone 7/ 7+ don't have headphone ports anymore. Apple had been shaging over everyone in the audio game by getting rid of 1/8" stereo jacks and USB ports.

And no, you can't just use an 1/8" to 1/4" adapter.

Mine came with an adaptor that plugs into port on the bottom to plug in 3.5mm headphone jack

It took me a moment to realize that's what you were referring to.

Because the port handles digital signals, you need a Lightning port interface.

The Line 6 Sonic Port is good old or new VX version because both have headphone jacks built in.
