Guys,

I'm starting to seriously contemplate buying one now. They actually aren't that expensive.

The 4gb holds approximately 1,000 songs at 4 minutes each.
And Canadian, It'll come up to just over 200.

What do you guys think? Think the Nano is worth it? or should I jump up the the 8gb, 20 gb, etc etc?

It depends on what you want to do.

Do you want to have ALL your music with you wherever you go? if yes then get the regular iPods. My lowly, obsolete 20 GB will play music non stop for about 10 days without repeating a song. And it's not even full yet...

Do you want something very light and unobtrusive to take with you everywhere and don't mind changing the songs out once in awhile? If yes then get a Nano. I have a 1GB for working out. It holds 200 something songs. Enough for even a marathon.

I had a 4 GB mini thats reaching the end of its life, and I think I'd like to go with an 8GB nano if I replace it. THe simple reason, I'm lazy. I don't want to switch things around, and decide before a trip what songs I don't want to listen to. I don't have a huge music collection on my computer, but even just 6 GB would let me get a pretty decent well rounded selection on there. The 4 was just a little bit too small.

Give it some thinking. I personally like to have to select a few records to put on my 2Gb nano, so that I actually spend time listening to them and really know them well... I use to have a larger iPod, but I went back to small in order to improve my listening habits. My selection used to be more random, and I wouldn't really know the stuff as well.

The nano is extremely compact which is nice. I don't have any problem with loading some different playlists now and then, shoot it recharges while it's sitting there so big deal. I also like the fact is doesn't have a hard drive. I haven't dropped it yet but dropping one with a drive is more likely to be disasterous. If you load lots of stuff like tapes of your rehearsals or maybe taped lessons then more space is nice.

At current prices, it makes no sense to buy an 8GB Nano. It's $249, the same price as the 30GB regular iPod (i.e. the one that can also play videos). Over 3 times the disk storage, and video capability too, all for no bump in price.

I agree. I just bought the 30gb for the reasons above. But, the 80gb is a better deal if you want to spend that much. (another $100 for over 2x more space.)

The ONLY reason I bought a Nano was because I thought that if I worked out with it, i.e. ran or hit my heavy bag or something, and clipped it to my pants, the pants would fall down. So I bought the lighter nano. Yeah, I kind of scrapped the whole "work out" thing. Or when I do, it's weight lifting.

I have a 30GB and it's full. I only have 2 TV shows too, but all my music takes up a bunch of space. I want to get one of the new 80GBs or wait and hope they come out with something new soon. I also want a new shuffle, due to it's small size and convenience when I just want something when walking from one place to another. Don't need a whole bunch of music, then when I get home, resync and have totally new music on it.

Having bought a regular iPod for my girlfriend and then two successive Nano's (4gb>8gb) I'd say to get what you think will make you happy.

My girlfriend put a premium on lots of space and didn't care about the size of the unit but I wanted the smallest package possible and chose the Nano for myself.

The newer one not only has the additional memory, but also a substantially better battery life, and even though it's only a hair thinner, it feels even moreso because of the rolled edges.

I really like the indent for the center button too.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Probably everyone here will stop buying 4 string basses if they ever come out with 5, 6 or 7 string basses for the same price, because ya know, more is better.:smug:

Not to hijack or anything, but if a production model 7 came around the was the same quality as the GT-7, and approximately the same price, It wouldn't be good for my bank.

Anyways. I think I'm going to get the 30gb. Just makes more sense. The 4gb nano or whatever is going to be too small, and the 8gb is the same price as the 30gb. Just makes sense. That's almost triple the space (I don't actually know. I'm bad at Math)

Keep em coming! Any problems? etc etc
