Yeah it's kinda hard to describe what this pedal does. It's somewhere between a delay and a modulation, and it's extremely musical, right out of the box. To me, its closest analogue is Valhalla's Freq Echo, which is one of my favorite atmospheric delay VSTs...it's nice to have a similar effect on my board.

Without the LPF/HPF that the plugin has I was considering putting it in my Divaricator loop. But in the limited play time I've given it so far, it seems like the shift knob makes that unnecessary. I'm looking forward to gigging it tonight and really milking it during the spacier parts of our set.

One thing....I've been struggling finding a live context for the FMeron. But through the AP that pedal sounds incredible. Excited to try that too.

I use the FMeron mainly for a nice octave up. Octave Switch UP, FM mode, but the only challenge is working around the "swoop" thats in there, the envelope progression, it's amazing but not great for staccato playing. I like on both, even the Poly I don't have anymore, the ability to tune the effect with the various knobs on each pedal - very limitless use with the AP

Let me know how it sounds with automated expression, I finally got one again, and am really tempted to pull the trigger on a Reflex

Reflex is awesome.

I think SA is releasing a Reflex 2.0 soonish though, and might be worth waiting to see what that brings to the game, if you don’t need it ASAP.

Details are scant, but sounds like you have to provide your own expression pedal, as the new one focused on the “brains” instead.

OBNE Expression Ramper is a simpler and cheaper option, but still pretty nifty.

I've been casting a serious look at the OBNE one, much cheaper, but still powerful. I was chatting with Taylor and he also indicated that once could use a TRS insert cable to place a tremolo into the effect in of IE pedals, thus harnessing the tremolo LFO and waveforms for expression duties. And if the tremolo has an expression in for speed, then you have an expression controlled LFO. Might have to try that!

I hope a Reflex 2.0 is coming, there was that big announcement, but lately Roger has seemed noncommittal about whether it is financially viable for them, it seems like a side project currently.

I've had great success with all the Dunwich wizzard fuzzes, brassmasters, maestro being smoother and oxide being the harsher. The XD works as a crossover and helps kick high gain noise too. I keep a 125b wizard paired with my XD all the time, right now I'm seeing how it is behind the XD, next I will reverse that and see which I like the best. Bit crushers sound awesome feeding the XD too.

Biggest thing when changing out fuzz is you really just adjust the FREQ knob, and mind your input, some fuzzes choke the hz more so, brassmaster pedals especially

All these fuzzes and ods sound great through the xd, ive been lazy about getting my chrome up and running

Have a Xerograph Deluxe. Sounds great, but trying to get synthy tones out of it, what/where do you put drive? Before/After and overdrive/distortion/fuzz/gatedfuzz/bitcrush? Do you change knob position when drive is on/off? I'd like to be able to switch between classic wah and synth just by turning drive on or off, but that may not be possible or get the best results.

Just seeing what people have found success with.

Octave and/or Gated-ish Fuzz before it. Find a sensitivity where the filter opens to your liking when playing clean/traditional filter sounds, and then adjust the output level of the fuzz/octave before it so they get the envelope to trigger in a way that sounds good to your ear. There's a lot of preference going on in the question, since the ideal sensitivity and responsiveness of a filter completely depends on what you want. I will say that I find the XD to be a better synth filter than traditional filter. For traditional standalone filter sounds, I like Moog, 3 Leaf, and MuTron stuff more. That said, if you like the XD for just filter sounds, you should be pleasantly surprised by how well it does synth sounds with dirt/octaves going into it...
