I'll spend some time with mine this weekend hopefully with both passive and active basses and see how it all fits together, how the tracking and such works.

Alas, I won't be able to test the similar chain since I'm the @ssho1e who sent Taylor my XD for some work today (hey, I had the shipping box ready from the DT) though he's overworked and being threatened by wildfires.

Maybe try a very soft attack and see what that does for the tracking. That’s what was suggested to me. The pedal may pick up any bit of fret noise and/or overtones so try a mute on your strings (hair wrap) and see if that helps a bit. Let us know how it goes.

That’s just a bandaid on a bullet wound . Can’t all be Home runs I guess

I’ve had this issue with a couple analog octavers like the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (absolutely terrible gating) and Copilot Cubic (compared to a Boss OC-2, which I consider my standard and which has excellent built-in gating), but don’t remember it being an issue with my old Subterranea which I thought I recalled having decent gating.

From an email I’d sent on 29 March of this year: “Although I love the aesthetics of the Dubterrenia with it’s new asymmetrical knob layout I’m curious if it’s possible to include a variable noise gate much like the Divaricator. It would be cool to clamp down hard on a heavy synth voices mix or octave w/filler opened up. Maybe tied or assignable to the expression jack”.
It’s clear from the email that I have no idea where, in the order, a gate belongs but I like operating free from salient facts and other such impediments LOL! E

Definitely don’t quote me on the SubT gating as I haven’t had it in several years, but I don’t remember the tracking being an issue with mine (though anytime I used the synth voices I was also playing through a Xero). I do know I ultimately preferred playing an octave through a gated fuzz though, as the dynamics of the synth voices were too “on/off” on the SubT for my taste and I missed that dynamic control. As I recall the normal analog octave voice was great, but not enough better than my OC-2 to justify keeping around for just octave use apparently. I would love to try one again, but now they are much harder to get ahold of!

Got mine today. It is incredible. The octave down tracks as well as an OC2, and the synth mode is just bonkers fun. The timbre rolled all the way down yields some mega sub action. I expect a degree of glitching in any effect combo similar to this one, it just requires some pretty clean monophonic playing. I could see this single pedal removing the OC2 into gated fuzz norm for many people. Instant jungle vibes.

Also played with a y-splitter for the effects loop on the synth voices and it’s so useful. Tried it with a phaser and a crazy fuzz and it just rips. Using a fuzz can definitely tighten up and re-voice the synth side.

im glad you like it! I really wanted too . It just wasn’t for me. I love every other IE pedal I own .
