Irratic Peavey Max Bass 112

I inherited the above mentioned Amp through abandonment 4 years ago. The Amp works well on earphone. but when the earphone plug is removed. no sound from the speaker. I opened the amp up and found a electrolytic cap that needed replacing. When I reassembled the amp, the earphone worked and when you play a string with the earphone plug out. It would momentarily sound through the speaker, but would cut out within a second. It would not sound again until you cut the amp off and started it again. Same results. Any Ideas. I understand the Amp has DDT tech. I just wanted to air the situation before an experienced group before I take it in for repairs. IJ was never able to find a schematic for the Max Bass 112 amp. One was available for the Max 112 DDT but under scrutiny it is not the same amp.

Best bet: take it to a qualified amp repair place. Specifically someone that has experience with Peavey products. If it were me, I would donate it and replace it ASAP. It will probably be a better use of money going that direction.

Are you using this combo for band practice or simply at-home practice? There are lots of headphones-only solutions out there that would would work wonderfully.

Clearly, the cap had nothing to do with the problem, another example of replacing parts without troubleshooting rarely solves the problem.

If you don't know how to troubleshoot and don't understand electronics, you should find a QUALIFIED tech experienced with this era of Peavey amps.

Decide how much you are willing to spend in the repair so that you don't end up on the hook for more than you expect.
