Respectfully...I'd say take a chill-pill. I think the intent behind the gear thing is to bring anything Fender-ish and something tube. Otherwise, it would be like takin a Peavy Cirrus 6 string and a Trace Elliot rig to a bluegrass audition (or even a Beatle's tribute band is maybe a better analogy).

They've got a great singer...the Humble Pie stuff!

The ad could have been worded better, granted, but you never know, those guys may just have been through a LOT of bassists by now and are just tired of getting too many inappropriate candidates and not enough potential fits.

The ad's already gone from craigslist, so I can't comment on it, but I will say that on the flip side, I prefer them:

a) knowing what they want.

b) being up front about it.

Craigslist has always gotten me a ton of replies even when I've been pretty clear on what I was looking for in a project. Most of those replies were either not close or the exact opposite of what I had stated I was looking for -- and I'd try and be specific without sounding too pretentious or closed off. Perhaps these guys are veterans of craigslist and just don't want to have to deal with an inbox stuffed with obvious bad matches.
