Is Ampeg SVT-450H so bad amplifier?

I had a B2 for a while.
One main frustration, I got it as a do-everything head for rehearsals, recordings and small to medium gigs.
Manual/marketing stuff said it had a temperature-controlled fan but the one on mine was on always, and it was loud.
I was asked by one bandleader not to bring it to rehearsals/recording sessions where I was the only electric instrument.
Also you have to crank the gain and use graphic EQ to get full volume out of it.
I found my GK400RB - 130 watts @ 8 ohms considerably louder than the B2R thru the SWR 1x15 and 2x10 cabs I had.
