is behringer q802usb supposed to be noisy?

Hello all. So i connected my bass into the mixer and mixer connected via usb to laptop. There is alot of noise, guess you can call it a hissing noise. Even when im not playing. Is this normal? Thanks. jimmy

Is there a "gain" knob on the channel? Turn it.
Turn the volume up on the mixer, and turn it down in the DAW

Its still real noisy. I know this a cheaper mixer but i find its a little to noisy

Which output are you talking about? Does it matter if the laptop is connected or not?

The Behringers are not known to be the quietest, not even in their price range, but I have never had a problem using them for practice or gigging. I'd guess something is wrong with your gain structure, line/mic/pad settings or similar.

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything wrong with your mixer. It simply doesn't have a high-Z input. So I assume you simply put the guitar into one of the line-inputs. As a consequence you need to pump up the volume to get a decent level and this pumps up and produces the unwanted noise. Would be the same on a 100.000,- mixer. You need a DI-box or a mixer with a high-z input for guitars and basses or if you have an amp and it has a DI-output or a line level output you could use the amp.
