Is Classical thump a joke?

I can get the 1st 16 notes of that song! 
I don't believe myself to be at the level to actually sit down and TRY to figure out the stuff that victor pulls. Anything is possible, including playing that song, it's just getting to that possibility is hard. To hear the song though is very nice!

Well let me see... Victor's Fodera retails for about the same price as the Zon Hyperbass...if you want to get technical. Id rather have the hyperbass myself.
It doesn't _require_ a $7,000 bass. It requires an amazing amount of skill and practice.
I have Victor's instructional video, and if I didn't see it myself, I wouldn't believe it.
I can play through the beginning well enough until it hits the 'double thumb' section. The video shows him playing it fairly clearly. He specificially goes into his technique during that song.
I've been spending a little time on that double-thumb technique. Can't do it yet. Basically he says, "Don't bounce your thumb. Slap THROUGH the string, so your thumb comes to rest on the next string down. Then use the edge of your thumb/fingernail to pull off on the string."
I've had a hard time learning it. (I'm not much of a slap player, but I'm working on it. It's fun to do, but not really my style.)
The first part is easy. The second part - where he adds the hammering, only takes a little practice. The third part - where he adds the pull off - is where it gets really hard. The third and fourth parts after that are just some kind of abomination. ;-)
What I've found is that between the OLGA tab, the recording, and the video, I've got the signature riff going pretty well.
But damn... $50 for that video at Mars. That's a bit steep.
