i'm glad they exist! i love seeing "elegant" axes (per your examples and @OldShark's example) --- they're fascinating IMO. who can't "ooh and ahh" over these things?! let's face it: they're special, if for no other reason = because they're elegant! and many have special features and attributes other than (or contributing to) their "elegance."What defines elegance in a bass guitar, and should it even exist?.....In this modern era of rat-rod/road-worn basses - does elegance still have a place?
my favorite example of "elegance"

but, as a full-time working musician i didn't need elegance, even though that 'quality' has always been an attraction. based on how i see the EB, functionally, and how i've used them, i'd have to go with this POV:
Basses have always been tools....elegance notes about instruments is kinda like expressing the beauty and classiness of hammers....
none of my axes are "elegant." some are "cool," some are "fun," some are probably "funny," and the only thing 'elegant' about them is the way they feel when i'm playing them...but that counts more to me than the "elegant" qualities of the very stunning examples....
per the OP: i'd vote, "elegance is a great option." i like that there are such examples of elegance. i'm attracted to elegant EBs, but i don't need that quality to do my part. i'd still use one of my PJs to get the job done because they're more reliably familiar tools for me, and that has its own type of "elegance" in my world!
