Well..... Not really. It has a "Ric-o-sound" output that places each pickup in a separate signal path. Not the same as stereo. I have one and I never use it, too much trouble for too little benefit. ymmv.My rickenbacker 4001had a stereo input
Bass going stereo? Whatever next?
That comment has a definite Napoleon Dynamite vibe.WHAT?!! Everyone is going to stereo?! Why the heck am I always the last one to find out?!
It’s a general hate/troll thread about bassists doing what they want.Where is this thread going again?
This can be done crudely with a Ric-O-Sound, by engaging the low-cut 'vintage' switch on the bridge PU, and rolling off the tone knob for the neck PU. Mostly I just do the former, though, and it eliminates most of the phasing issues for me.I talked about running each PU into a crossover ...
Phase cancelling is because you have the same frequencies coming from different pickups. Neck and bridge pickup both producing 800 Hz tones, but not at the same phase. With my crossover idea, you'd cut the highs out of the neck and lows out of the bridge so that you would't have phase cancellation because each frequency would come from only one pickup.
Well, technically, in the region near the crossover freq you'd have some, but it would be much less than normal.
What I thought. It’s a general hate/troll thread about bassists doing what they want.
Have you checked in with everyone in the ‘newest generation’? Know of all the newer bands? Whoever was featured on the Grammys is absolutely no indication of what’s going in, and it hasn’t for decades.I guess I'm finally becoming an old curmudgeon. But I'm sometimes weepy that the newest generation will only appreciate 'prefab' music with autotune and cubicle-written tunes and will never be exposed to the kind of musicianship and vocal awesomeness that we grew up with. They are missing out and don't even know it.
There was no phase cancellation there.I took a quick look and apparently I'm the only person who thought of Phoebe Cates when I saw this thread. Guess it's just where my mind is.
In some cultures that's considered entertainment. We sounded like a bunch of angry bees flying around.
