Is it just me, or do Ampeg SVTs not do it for you?

as much as I don't like ampeg (and I don't) I would not have mentioned that on here in a thread talking how ampeg sucks.

My disinterest in ampeg is solely due to how often I see them. I see them a lot.

Yes, it is just you. Following is a list of other amplifiers that also do not suck:

Genz Benz
Trace Elliot
SWR
Gallien Krueger
Mesa Boogie
Thunderfunk
Fender
Sunn
Mark Bass
Eden
Aguilar
etc. etc. etc.

If you don't find one that blows your skirt up, move on to the next. But, be rest assured, if you find that you think the one you are playing sucks, it's probably you and not the amplifier.

My 2 cents... ;)

Yes i think it's just you.
Funny how every time i sell my svt to get something lighter and more portable i end up never being satisfied and end up spending alot of money to go back to one. Every time i go back to the svt i end up getting compliments on my sound. I decided to stop being a pussy and lift a little extra weight because the sound is worth it. Their is alot of good amps out there but nothing can fill a room like an all tubed svt and cut through any mix.

Nope.

Fact is, anyone that chooses to not use Ampeg, I'm not going to do what the OP did, if you use something else, I'm not going to shoot you down (Check my thread replys since 2007, if you don't believe me).

I chose to use Ampeg. If you think they're not that great, you really should come out to a gig I play and let it speak for itself.

Arguing that an iconic brand that has sold thousands of units world wide with huge numbers of them still in service, SUCKS, is, well… subjectivity elevated to injudicious ignorance. OTOH, since we are talking subjectivity here, let your conscience be your guide. Most Ampeg rigs I have played through make me feel like I am playing the amp, not the guitar, so I prefer different flavors. This makes Ampeg neither good nor makes it bad. Variety is the spice…………..carry on!

I own a SVT 4-Pro since 2005 and have replaced it 3 times. It lacks the power it claim it has. I kept calling Ampeg to complain about it, and they keep sending me refurbished amps....that should tell you something!

I play a GK1001 at church and it blows my Ampeg away!

I like SVT's old ones at least- but I with OP as far as the GC inventory ones- I've plugged into a few and not been really impressed...I'll take my Mesa 400+ over the new SVT stuff any day of the week and twice on sunday.....now an old one from the 70's thats a whole nother story-
Why is it though when I read threads like this people get pissed off and insult each other? If OP doesn't like Ampeg, and doesn't get all the hoopla that Ampeg gets, why does he suck? and I do think it is likely that quality on new Ampeg gear is not what it once was...( I can think of many other companies where this is true)- obviously Ampeg is not the be all end all for all players- thus the reason for the myriad of amps out there...and some widely aclaimed amps aren't for everyone- I tried the other A brand amp (DB750) and while I thought it was well suited for what it was it wasn't to my taste- To OP I think a better way to word the thread is " i was disapointed when I pluged into a new SVT" not do they totally suck....the only thing totally sucks are egotistical people who go out of thier way to rude and uncouth- Talk bad TONE!
