Meh....I'm bored watching the new Wall Street movie...and a thought popped in my head...I love both Fenders AND Musicman basses. I own a couple of Jazz basses, and a Sterling 4HS & Stingray 4H. So which do you like...? One or the other....or both.

Musicman, though I have a jazz copy (and love the neck), which got me to where I am currently building a solid wenge jazz bass with a MM pickup and MM 2 band preamp. Should be the ebst of both worlds (if my back survives holding the thing all night).

That sounds like an sweet bass. Basically a combo of two of my favorites.

hmmmm... afaik embb is the "evolution" of your classic fender bass, just the way the G &L basses were the "ultimate" fenders. I'd go with the idea that you a 1500 fender is the exact same quality as a 1500 ebmm.

Rickenbacker used to be the ultimate bang for the buck ssince you used to get the equivalent of a custom shop fender for the same price as an am st

I had an American Fender J back in the day that was a pretty darn good bass. It was transparent tangerine, so it looked really good!

But after 30+ years of playing live in every imaginable kind of gig and genre, I am totally in love with my EBMM Sterling 5 HH. There's nothing I want in bass tone that I can't tweak outta that thing. Plus it's light, and small, and the neck is fast, and it's Medallion Gold so it looks sexy as hell (especially in flash photos... yowza!).

But, it's such a personal thing. Lots of guys get everything they need out of a passive P bass. Meh, who the hell knows? If you strap on a bass and dig in at a gig and you're smiling, life is good. Play what you love, love what you play, and rock on!!!!

After having a few examples of each, I have come to the conclusion that I prefer Fender. I like MM, but don't love them. Even if I want a more modern sound, there are other brands I prefer over EBMM. Nothing wrong with EBMM, they make great stuff. Just not for me.
