is it OK to put thread locker on schaller s lock strap lock?

Some of us use rubber washers to permanently attach the strap and never worry about it again.

In my youth, I used big wood screws and Fender washers (not made by fender, they're really big wide washers used on car fenders), and screwed my straps to my basses - even more secure than the rubber washers. But now, I like to be able to remove the strap, as I practice seated a lot.

A lot of us use Dunlops - those of us that do don't feel the need to ask such questions. I like the flush mount ones - when you' re playing seated (which is the majority of my playing as I practice a lot before every gig), there's nothing on the upper horn or the butt of the instrument to poke you or get torqued loose.

have all 3 versions of the dunlop. The dual design is the cheapest modification that I love to do for most of my basses.

For years I was annoyed by that little nut working its way loose time and time again, often at the worst moments, even searching beer soaked stages for a tiny silver ring.

This definitely happened to me. Even recorded in a fan video!

To my pleasure I collected the bits and screwed it back together while playing a song AND played seamlessly! On guitar so obviously easier to do!

With the most recent generation of the Schallers, I would not know where to put loctite. The pin you screw into the body of the bass is a single piece and the screws finally stay firmly in place. On the assembly that goes onto the strap, you have a hole in the ring that allows to insert an allen key or small screw driver to tighten it even harder, then there's the grub screw to make sure nothing moves. I put on new S-Locks on two basses and two straps about half a year ago and nothing moves there.

pre-2018 schallers don't, but they're not named s-locks either.

Exactly. This version of their straplocks directly addressed the aspects of the old versions that were often criticised. I liked the old ones but love the current version.

I don't see why that's necessary - but I also don't see why not.
It's metal, it's a connection via a threaded bolt and a threaded nut.
That's literally what loctite is made for.
