Is it possible to do this?

I'm getting a new bass built and the preamp I'm probably going for the Aguilar OBP-1 but I only want the bass boost so I'm wondering if there is a way to wire a resistor in so that the treble is flat as if the knob was rolled back.

So is this possible and how would I go about it.

why don't you just leave the treble EQ flat instead? also if you don't want they treble you can cut the treble by rolling back.

It should be possible to connect the wires going to the center and outside terminals to eliminate the pot. However, I think this will actually run the treble full out instead of rolled off. My thought would be to wire it normally, but turn the treble pot down and duct tape it inside the control cavity. This way you wouldn't have to use it at all, but later you would be able to add it by putting another whole in the body(or pickguard)if you changed your mind. As long as the pot is isolated from any other connection it shouldn't be a problem.

I asked the very same question to Aguilar support a while ago. A 25K resistor instead of the treble pot will do. But instead I chose to wire the pot, roll it off and tape it into the cavity.

I spoke to some effect pedal builders as they seem better at this sort of wiring.

They said wire the orange and white together then wire these to one side of 25k resistor and wire the other side to grey.

I've emailed aguilar to confirm this.

Another option is to get a dual pot(not concentric, but one pot with two sets of connection terminals). If you wire the bass on one set of terminals as shown on the wiring diagram,and the treble on the other set of terminals but reverse the outside terminal that you use, as you turn up the knob the treble will be decreased as the bass is boosted. It will act similarly to a passive tone control.

A final option would to be to install a trim pot inside the cavity. You can then set the treble where you like it and leave it alone.
