Hi.

I currently own a 2005 Music Man Sterling and a 2005 Fender Jazz with the S-1 switch. I like playing with the switch on because it gives a fatter Pino-like tone more like the P-bass but doesn't quite get there. I was wondering whether it's worth going all out to get a P-bass. Is it worth it if I already have the S-1 switch on the Jazz?

I play through an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 with the DB 212 cab, and play a variety of styles.

A P Bass is a good bass to have in your collection. I've been playing them for 45 years.

I had a P-bass for a while but I sold it because it didn't feel comfortable to me. I had a problem with the chunky neck (I have really small hands) so I felt more at home on a J-bass. Try one and see if you like it. And if it's possible, try one out in a band setting, the tone is to die for. It's the only thing I miss.

I'm a self-professed J-bass lover who recently picked up my first P-bass, and I wish I wouldn't have waited so long. Lovin' the P-bass!

This. I waited 30 years to get my first P Bass and the tone is unmistakable. My MM Sterling is easier to play and I love its tone too, but it is not as distinctive as the P. I vote yes.

Yes! A P bass with flats into that rig and it'll be PHAT heaven. Also, you'll notice the extreme bass face that Scott gets in that vid with a P bass.
