Is john patitucci playing MusicMan???

Wondering what this bass is at 0:41 of the video. I think it is a MusicMan, but not sure. Anyone know what this is and the model?

I think it's a Sadowsky, looks like this one from the Sadowsky site, except for the controls, but I guess JP gets special treatment, so he should. He's a legend!

Lol, I couldn't ever see John playing Musicman. That bass is a one off Yamaha custom shop. The control layout looks exactly like that of a TRB and the headstock is reminiscent of the BB series.

It's a custom Yamaha. Look at the control layout and the the headstock, as said above, is the old BB series headstock. Also the jack location is exactly like my BB1500A

Now that's a good question. This is the first I've ever seen a Yamaha custom shops ever that didn't look super boutique so maybe it could be coming to the market? Of course, this is all speculation but it would be cool to see a Yamaha bass make that transition.

Presumably "forever" = ~20 years? He was using Ken Smith basses through most of the 1980s.

I'm not sure what that bass is, but I am sure of one thing-I'M BUYING THAT CD!!!! THAT IS COOL!!!!!

On a side note, I preferred John's Ken Smith tone over his Yamaha.

OT: I always wondered whether there were any business repercussions at the Ken Smith shop after their two highest profile players at the time (John Patitucci & Anthony Jackson) stopped using Smith instruments, seemingly within months of one another.
