Is Macca's bass missing a string here?

Looks curious

I think that is the Rosseti Lucky Seven guitar that Paul used briefly. As I understand the story the guitar was strung with bass strings from a piano. Beatle experts correct me if I'm wrong.

George sneaked out between sets and removed the string.

He's having a good chuckle about it.

:D I know you're joking, but you're not too far off. I read a long time ago that John & George used to derive great enjoyment at Paul's expense. They'd figure out what the first note he'd hit on their opening song, then turn the tuner for that string a full revolution before going out on stage. When he'd hit his first (off) note, those wacky boys would get a good laugh out of it... ;)

He might have been referencing those days when he was talking about playing at the Concert for George. After beginning "Something" playing a ukulele, he walked over to get his guitar from its stand and it was stuck! Delayed his jumping back into the song. He said that had never happened to him before and when it did he knew George was in the house! Jim
