Double Bass is my bow worth $4000??

Also, i do not think any high quality bow that is made by a reputable french craftsman will have "made in france" stamped on it and would mainly be sold in the US.

Still, Kolsteins $4,500 dupree has it. It's stamped only "France".
That's the whole reason i starting to think it's a "real one", because when i talked to Barrie Kolstein he said that the cheaper ones has "Germany" stamped and the much more expensive ones has stamped "France". That certainly doesn't make me sure about it, but that answer made me start this thread to find out more about it!

I'm telling you man, it's a german reproduction. You can tell by looking at it it's a brazilwood bow with a cheap german frog. The Kolstein one is a nice permanabuco bow. Just look at the Difference between the frog and stamp. If anything you over payed for that bow. Don't believe me? See what ken smith has to say.

I've had it looked at by two luthiers and two teachers of mine and all of them said it's definitely pernambucco.

Of course it could be, but how do you know?

I don't, it may be a chinese reproduction. I've said five times that's a cheap mass produced highly damaged frog and not a great stick just from the two pictures you gave me. Do your self a favor and show it to somebody who specializes in bass bows.

By the way, my Dupree cello bow that I got for (basically) free also is stamped "France". An expert bow maker in my town did a little work on it when I first got it and confirmed it was a basic factory bow.

I suggest again that you call Metropolitan music. It's their stamp after all, and I think they've been using it for 50+ years.

I have an Emile Duprée made in France (see pictures) that i bought for around $450 in the fall of 2010. The person i bought it from had a luthier made price valuation of $3000 so i started to look around for other "real" Emile Duprées made in france and i found a French grip Emile at kolstein webshop that Barrie said goes for $4500

My bow has some damages on the frog and at the ivory tip, though.
What do you guys think?
I've tried to research the provenance my 'Dupree' French bow stamped 'France' & traced it to Metropolitan Music who confirmed it was a trade name for bows they imported from Germany by Doerfler(sp) who wouldn't return my inquieries... Metropolitan had them stop stamping France supposedly when they were informed it was illeagal to falsify the Country of origin .. can't confirm this but I'd think older Perumbuco sticks w/ France stamped on them would be older then ones with no country stamped? ...a Quality violin shop in Glendale CA apraised it as a decent shop made bow worth at least $500 , this was years ago...its mos def s 'Good Bow' can just tell the stick wasn't made yesterday.. & the 'Banding or wraping infront of the frog are the same two colors I've seen on other Dupree bows, brown and white basically..lets go to Antiques Roadshow & Bow Down! 20170501_173012.jpg123.26grm heavy, area of hair is 22& 7/8"

It's about violin bows, but applies:
yeah know all that, and Met Music confirmed it in writing but Dorefler wouldn't respond to my letters, seem like a good, reputable shop ! i think that is where Emille Dupree comes from
i was just trying to find iut the age& ballpark value.. it's funny but the 'France' stamp isn't plum/level with edges of octagonal part of stick. kind of slap dash?! it's my go to bow now , although i am trying to save up for a carved top Eastman that blew my mind..here' s Doerflur contact
