Double Bass Is my bridge ok?

my luither is out of town for the summer or i’d Bring it to them. Bass got bumped at my gig. Feels like action got higher. Adjusters don’t turn super smoothly anyway but they feel tight moving them.

I’m sure I’m over thinking it but does it look like the bridge is curved wrong? I did the trick of pushing it down SLIGHTLY with a straight arm like my luither taught me a while ago. I don’t know much about it. Thanks for peace of mind

Is the G foot above the inner f hole nick? The back should be at 90 degrees.

Looks like the treble side bridge foot walked up a little...

Just check to see if the feet are about centered on the inner notches of the F-hole. Also look down the fingerboard from the scroll and make sure it is centered with the fingerboard. It's good to not be afraid of moving the bridge!

It looks crooked to me. Not something you should need a luthier for. Align with the f-hole notches and make sure it is 90-degrees off of the table. You can ease up the string pressure a bit, but when you tune back to pitch, make sure that the strings don't pull the bridge up toward the fingerboard.

Ditto... that looks as crooked as a politician. But you can do the move yourself, as described above... Only thing you need to worry about is dropping the sound post. Have the bass on its back when you do it.

I would imagine there are youtube videos on how to do it, too...

I try to keep my bridge vertical, which means now and then, pushing it lightly backwards/downwards, when tuning my plain guts have pulled it forwards.
But I also do something else. I lift each string of the bridge with two fingers on each side of the bridge, one at the time from G to E, and let it slip back. It seems to release some inherent tension, making the bass play softer. This is probably easier with my plain guts, than other strings..

Two quick changes. Moved the bridge down a tad so it wasn’t leaning toward the board and moved the treble foot down slightly. I think that looks better. Any objections or did I just destroy my bass lol

Much better. You may have pushed it down too far. Put a straightedge on the back of the bridge to check. I look at the wings in relation to the bridge body to check. They should be right in line.

A little bit of east-west movement can change the strings' relative height off the fingerboard quite a bit also. If it still feels strange to play but the bridge angle and north/south placement look correct, there's also that factor. Pretty bass!
