Is my super-light US Standard Precision normal?

I'm curious, is this just a freak one-off, or was there a run of basses during this period that were notably light? Were they using higher grade alder, secretly using poplar again, or is it just a really lucky find?

Thanks!

This is one of the reasons why people around here always recommend you play a bunch of Fenders at a shop before buying.

I've got a fretless Am. Std. Jazz that's almost 10lbs. I've also got a MIM Classic 50's P that's a hair over 8lb. Every time I've had the P in a shop for work, I get comments from the guys on how light/resonant it is, and how great is sounds.

TL; DR: You got a good one. Hang into it and don't let go.
