Is Newsted a good bassist?

That whole album had no bass in it(i forget the album)

Listen carefully and you can tell.

They just had a lot of bass in the guitars, and the bass drum really heavy, and over tracking.

Well "and justice for all..." has bass but it is so low that you can't hear it most of the time. I have heard both Hetfield and Newstedt talk about the basslines from "and justice for all" and they both say it is there it's just that it is way to low in the mix (somethingt hey both say they regret today).

Personally, apart from a few early tunes I think Mettalica suck,I read where they would often criticize Jason in the studio and live. Hetfield and that Lars dude seem to be major Wanks ,They never appreciated Jasons contributions ,and the bass was always buried in the mix,I think he's a good player who's never had the vehicle to show off his talent. Rock on Jason! Truillo is a great player I hope they appreciate him. My 2 cents

You can say whatever you wanna say about Metallica, but you saying that the bass always got buried in the mix is a sign that you have no knowledge of the band whatsoever. Just listen to Load. The bass plays a very prominent role there. That's not a discussion issue.
I understand that you don't like metallica, though, that's very understandable. Just don't get the facts wrong. :)

It's not that i don't like mettalica, some of there stuff is great, but alot of there stuff is bass heavy guitars, which wrecks it for the bass player in the mix,and most of us on this topic seem to agree that a] Jason is a good player b] he's usually buried in the mix and c] the rest of the band never really appreciated him those are facts. Cheers
