Sketch of D. Pearson's tune from 1966- dig Bob Cranshaw on upright bass.
I distilled Duke's version, removing some 3/4 measure nonsense on the second time through the melody, and consulted the Lee Morgan version as well for melodic/harmonic content.
I've been playing at a bi-monthly session with some very young(!) LA Jazz Lions, esp. pianist Adam Hersch, (check him out), and Adam has been steering me to material that I had not checked out in my sketchy past.
Here is one that Adam mentioned - I hope to play it with the "kidz" at our next session.
Thanks for listening.
