and I'm getting ready to make myself a swamp ash Jazz bass when I have time.

All I have is a really really cheap Chinese copy of a P-Bass that is hardly playable (it was my first bass), I keep it around so I can feel like I have a P-Bass.

Hopefully someday I'll have a real Precision and Jazz... someday.

Seeing everyone and their mom play a Fender drives me crazy. IMHO, there are plenty of excellent bass choices out there for everyone. I enjoy when people find their own unique voice through an instrument that is different from what the masses are constantly playing.
