Is there anybody out there who doesnt like Mudvayne?

Ok old guys

Now remember the Beatles how could they be taken serious, how about that weird trippin babble talkin Jimi Hendrix, or what about that cross gender Ziigi Stardust aka David Bowie, or how about that goofy looking flaming Elton John. Or the one hit wonders like Flock of Seagulls, or even Cyndi Lauper for Gods sake she was a trip to look at. What about those guys huh??!! They are staples of popular pop music and rock. Music is art it is also meant to be theatrical or charismatic to its audience. Come on now look at some of the goofy afros some base players had in the disco era.

Please dont dis people because of their appearence, the people that listen to rap-core or other forms of Heavy modern music know when someone is gifted or shows something that is beyond whatelse is being done in that style of music. I've heard Phog-Chris's stuff with the Puddin Hogs (lookin forward to Primer55 new stuff)and Im sure you'd be able to hear he is gifted too. For him to say Ryknow is an awesome player that alone is a good sign he is.
Compared to other bands of this style Ryknow is lightyears ahead of any other bands out their.

Some of the songs people are hearing he may not be doing any thing great but their are plenty of ones he is. Listening to downtuned bass on computer speakers isnt going to produce much to listen too. And they have an Independent record with files from it all over the web, with another bass player that was generic and boring.

Dont knock too much guys especially if its music you hate allready.

I was just pondering.

I know that this type of music requires very little skill to play, I have listened to it, and even enjoyed it at times, but come on, give me one good bass lick or guitar lick that I couldn't play when I was 12, or my guitar player for that matter.

Nevertheless, ponder me this, how can you like a band that has no respect for music?

Give me one, just one example where musical integrity was taken into consideration in the composition of any of their pieces, just one.

Does the lead singer ever actually sing?

Moreover, does the bassist or guitar player ever play anything that would be considered "nice on the ears" by anybody?

Hey man, low blow to the Beatles and Hendrix, and the others.

This is one young guy that took offense. I mean, think about who you are compairing to Mudvaynne, I mean seriously, you think that they can even be considered on the same level as those you were bashing. I mean, they were all original, key words there, I haven't heard anything as original as those you were bashing in a long time.

Just compair the lyrics of those who you were bashing to Mudvaynne, seriously now, I do believe, that I think more when I sit on the toilet than Mudvaynne does when they write. Hendrix idolized Dyllin, who does Mudvaynne acredit as their influences?

IMO, this entire thread is ridiculous. Not because of the opinions stated on either side, but because i can't stand the "XXXX sucks!" threads. Granted, its more subtle, but its still a stupid thread, imo. Isn't there a rule against this...in every forum?

Why waste time with this stuff, ESPECIALLY MUDVAYNE, when there are about 10 active threads out there on the topic?

If we are talking makeup then Kiss has Alice beat, but if me are talking music (no offense to kiss fans) Alice would be the champion.

Pickup the disks Schools Out and Billion Dollar Babies and come back and tell me there isn't some excellent bass playing. Those are only my top 2 choices, all of the disks with the original band have great bass, the next group had all star lineups, including the perfect Tony Levin.

Gruff I am an AC fan myself but Alice himself said that the theatrics came first then they had to learn how to sound good to back up the theatrics. I myself do not care for this way of thinking but AC did make some good music. I really don't care for theactrics at all but do like a high energy fun show. I'm just saying that some of the people complain about the gimmicks of todays music but these gimmicks have been used by even the most revered acts in music history.

drop it! good god people! if you dont like it dont listen to it. its that easy. i dont like alot of the music that you guys like. what is the point of threads like this? the comment about people that havent been playing bass long idolize just about anyone was a complete insult. just because i havent been playing as long as some of you doesnt mean i cant respect/enjoy the music as much as you. i dont listen to the music just because the bass is good. i listen to the music i choose to listen to because of the way it makes me feal. this might be alot of bs to some of you but i hope some of you get what im trying to say.

I don't have a problem with gimicks if the band can play. Never been a big Kiss fan because they don't grab me. Detroit Rock City is a great disk thou.

Sometimes when i go to a show i want to see a stage show with a band that can play. If i am in one of those moods i will see Alice or Gwar.

This side of me still doesn't stop me from seeing a great Jazz or Funk band if they are in town.

Got to keep the influences open.

Ok I can see some of your points here, but the Beatles, they were actually good, I dont like Jimmi much, but He was good, these 2 were inovators in drasticly changing the music scene, the Beatles basically paved a new path for rock, and Jimmi was a huge inovator on guitar. David Bowie, he is a smart composer, Elton John is a musical genious (unfortunatly he happens to be gay, so that would honestly explain why he dresses like a fool) but these people are all musical masterminds. The Beatles and Jimi were way ahead of their time and opened up new doors. Elton like I said is a genious and very very talent musician. Im not a big fan of Kiss but they were also another band that opened doors for alot of bands. I also think Kiss is somewhat over rated. None of those guys are really all that great, but for the 70's they were great musicians. Cindy Lauper and everyone from the 80's the dressed in make up even the bands today like mundayne, are copying a gimick that someone else has done. Kiss at least looked pretty cool in there make up. but people like manson and mundayne, look totally stupid. This is just my opinion.
