Is there software that can analyse the timing of your performance?

Hello everyone,

does anybody know if a piece of software exists that would analyse your time when practicing with a metronome?

I know this can be done manually in a DAW but it is very time consuming and it would be really useful if you had an analysis that would tell you something like "your 4-ands are too early 75% of the time by approximately 14 ms" or some sort of visual analysis.

I understand that this might not work well with instruments with a longer attack time but I guess it could be useful on bass and drums.

I teach myself and I have developed the ability to hear this. The problem is that some people don't, even after hearing a recording of themselves so maybe some other form of feedback like visual could maybe be useful in this situation.

I have the same request, but I also want the software to trigger an electric fence unit to zap me when I go off beat.

Yes, exactly. The way that test gives you back the results is what I was thinking about. But made for bass and also be able to play and analyse lines that also include syncopations.

Look up the Jeanius Electronics Russian Dragon. It was built for that.

I like a phone app called LiveBPM. It graphs your tempo while you're playing. It has worked well in a large jazz band.
