Double Bass Is this a good deal?

I have been looking for a cheap upright bass pickup so I can use my upright instead of my electric in my jazz band. I found this on ebay: Piezo Contact Pickup - Upright bass slap, banjo, cello, washboard, various uses
is this a good deal? or will it turn out to be just crap? Thanks.

These are actually very good. A lot of pros that play at high volume use it yet it still sounds pretty natural.
It mounts in the bridge wing slot.

I just realized this may not be the one that mounts in the bridge slot but ask him for one of those and see what he says. Vic is a good dude and will probably make it for you if he's not on the road.

This is a simple piezo disk pickup. Usually the signal is a bit weak in voltage and also in current (which means you might need a high input impedance preamp for a stronger signal and better sound).

You might have more luck with a Shadow SH-951 and it is worth the additional money. Not the best pickup in the world, but definitely if you want to go cheap but not too cheap. No problem if you stay pizzicato, not very pleasant with the bow.

Expect to pay something about US$150 to 250 for an average DB pickup.
