I was lookin on daddys for a new amp, and I stumbled upon this in the bass section. Looks pretty nice. Anyone have info on this bass?

I don't think you stumbled across the ultimate deal on a handmade US pre gibson tobias. I coud be wrong, but I dunno. Either way, it sure looks great.

That is in fact, a MusicYo Toby Pro 4
Made in Korea and fairly well made at that.
The pickups aren't bad...a little on the dark side.
The pre amp is a complete and total POS and the bass sounds WAY better if you pull it out, throw it in the trash where it belongs and hot wire the pickups to the jack.
Put a Bartolini pre in it and it's a real threat.

Probably cost around $325 new.

There's a Pro 5 beater leaning up against the wall behind me.

Yeah, it looks like a Toby (Korean) model. Tobias p'ups (instead of Barts) would be a major tip-off. If it's a neck-thru, the Toby's went for around 500 for a 4 string. Bolt on 4's were around 300. Everything I've read indicates that the body neck etc is pretty decent, but plan on investing some $$$ in electronics upgrades.

Which Daddy's is that at? The link isn't working for me for some reason. Looks nice, but interesting notes on the price. Daddy's are pretty easy to negotiate with IME, but I doubt if thats gonna be enough if they are asking that kind of markup.

It is a Tobias Toby pro from musicyo (gibson) $739 is a RIP OFF!! You could get these on musicyo.com before they stopped selling them for around $300 and I even remember sales for around $279 or so. I would like to punch each clown in the face that always tries to sell one of these at or near USA prices.

Well this onei s worth more because its been tested by every filthy little 15 year old paw in and around Orange, CT. IF its still playable after any length of time in a Daddy's, it must be truly a special specimen.

Besides, though it's probably overpriced, $739 is nowhere near MTD USA prices...
