"Is this a real Fender?" thread... *Quick help!*

I'm thinking about trading one of the basses I have for sale for this one. Originally I wasnt interested in any trades but I've been thinking about these for a while. But I just need to ask... Is this fender legit?

And if it is, how much does these usually go for used? My bass is valued around $800 is this a fair trade on either end?

Thanks!

Get it.

I have one of the latest edition Deluxes and it really goes well. The tone is awesome - I am starting to understand why PJ is good now.

I assume these have the same logic and feel but look cooler with the HB.

I had one of those several years ago, got it used for $600 with a nice case. It sounded great, but I just like passive bass guitars better, so I traded it for a American Standard Jazz about a year after I got it.

I will say it had a wide variety of tones available but was just a bit too "barky" for me.

Anyway, if you don't at least try to haggle the guy down a bit you will always wonder if you could have done better on the trade, so I'd offer a even trade and up my offer, depending on how badly you want the deal to happen.

Maybe it's worth the extra cash, but none of us can really say without holding both guitars in our hands and playing them to check them out. No matter what the deal is, "new bass day" is always a good thing. ;)

Fender 22 fret bass necks are longer by about one inch.
I am not sure for the P, but the J neck is (or was) badly balanced - matter of mass - developing dead spots mainly on the G string (awful at 6th fret, but not only there).
The Custom Shop sold off their whole stock of Custom Classic J in 2010 before they redesigned the neck (hopefully!).
One of the remedy is to add mass with a "Fat Finger" on the headstock. That's not classy.
Or to test with another string brand.
There are lots of threads on this matter in our TB forums.
