Genuine Pretender Precision BassIt's a genuine Fonder Procision Boss
I would suspect it is a good forgery by a foreign maker. They are pretty slick when it comes to building fakes and using the same method and serial numbers from the real deal.I'm guessing that pic of the serial number is not even from that neck.
The logo is wrong, the serial is wrong, the heel of the neck is wrong, the burst is wrong, the tuners are wrong, the knobs are wrong, the bridge is wrong, the pickup is wrong. ...

By 'largest mass market music company on the planet', do you mean Yamaha Music with 2025 sales of around $2.9 billion or maybe Fender who did around $700 million or possibly Cor-Tek who are definitely in the top 3 while making guitars for Cort, Ibanez, Squier, G&L, and others? I have no dog in this question, since I own at least 7 Fender basses, one Cort bass, and one Fender guitar. The statement just caught my eye and made me curious. It wasn't made by the largest mass market music company on the planet. That means it's a smaller builder, therefore boutique. I still wouldn't offer more than twice what the Fender version goes for.

Sorry, still not true. Yamaha sells a lot more musical instruments in the USA than Fender. Never thought about this before, but it was obvious once I considered it and then looked it up. Still not important, but a little interesting. Makes me wonder if the fans of the second largest piano and clarinet manufacturers get cranky about it.OK,”the biggest mass market music company in America”
Is that a real Fender or is that a SEARS Fender?
Yamaha is headquartered in Hamamatsu, Japan. I've been there, seen the piano factory (which is pretty cool). They are a Japanese company.Sorry, still not true.
Pardon me. I thought you meant sales in the USA. Thanks for the conversation.Yamaha is headquartered in Hamamatsu, Japan. I've been there, seen the piano factory (which is pretty cool). They are a Japanese company.
