Is this a real Fender?

I was scrolling through FB Marketplace and came across this bass for a really good deal...BUT I am curious if it is actually a Fender. First red flag is the seller says he "thinks" it is a Fender, and when I asked why he said it was because it was given to him as payment for a job that he did. He installed the EMG GZR pickup.

The relic on the bass was from the factory, but a quick search of the serial number on the back of the head stock does not show me anything. So, I am asking those who are way more knowledgeable...you! Do you think this is legit, and/or are there other things I should be asking about to see before I schedule meeting in person to verify?

Agree - wrong tuners, the tuners fitted on American made (Corona) have a cowl protecting the worm-screw, these are naked, like the made in Mexico or Squires. The reason this is interesting is that it’s a totally easy part to source if you’re committed to passing a bass off as legit - obviously fitted cheapo tuners, which may indicate the ‘quality’ of the other parts.

The truss rod adjustment is in a rational place - much better thought out than what you find on genuine Fenders. So, it's definitely not from the biggest mass market musical instrument company on the planet, which means it's "boutique" - at least in a relative sense.
