Double Bass Is this a real Wenzl B. Wilfer?

Hi, I found this double bass in Florence and I have no information about. Can someone help me?

It looks like a 50's/60's german bass. Most likely plywood. That bridge MUST be moved!

I don't know a ton about Wenzl B. Wilfer, but this bass doesn't look at all like the other (labelled) basses I've seen. Also, the neck heel looks pretty suspect to me, so I'd definitely have someone look at that if I were serious about this instrument.

German shop bass, ply, and the W.B.W. stamp doesn't look like any Wilfer stamp I've seen. Maybe it's a previous owner's initials?

5 stringsbowed is right, the bridge needs to move about 2" lower. Besides being in the right place, the string height will improve drastically.

Looks a lot like my first double bass, an Anton Schroetter ply from 1975. German shop bass.

I have seen more than a few of these beech neck plywood German basses with "painted on" flame figure in the neck. They tend to have a long string length and play VERY stiffly. It would not be my first choice as a gigging bass !
