Is this a safe combination?

Ok, so yesterday my girlfriend went to a local music store and got this head:

(450 watts at 8 ohms)

and a Bag End S15-D. I was ticked that a salesperson would sell her a head that's so overpowered, but I don't know, those Bag Ends can handle a lot... I personally wouldn't feel comfortable using this head with mine, though. Would you?

You have a dandy set up and alot depends on your needs and self control. I haven't looked at ohmage but chances are you can add another cab.

Well she wants a rig that she can move around easily by herself so she plans to use mainly the one cab, but even if she did use a second cab I don't see what good that would do, it would still be too much power for each cab.

I would have no problem with it. Because an amp is capable of putting out 450W, doesn't mean that it will in use. That depends on how far you turn up the volume control.

I wouldn't think twice about running a 450W amp into an S15D. I'd just be careful... if I heard unwanted distortion, I would turn down.

Save up for a second S15D for big gigs. I love those cabs.

The printed specs say 750 @ 4 ohm - perfect for 2 15's.

Just remember, that's MAXIMUM output before smoke comes billowing out the back. As previously stated, most amps come with a volume knob in addition to the on-off switch. This volume knob controls the MINIMUM output.

It's OK to have extra power handy if you don't mind the extra weight. I like to run all amps at half their max power.
