Is this a Tobias Growler??????

It's definitely NOT a Growler. The Growler has a single MM-style pick-up near the bridge. The bass in the video clearly has two soap-bar pups.

If I were to venture an educated guess, I'd say it's a Tobias (Gibson) Killer-B bass.

It´s pedro aznar, legendary musician multiinstrumentalist from argentina (with bass as main instrument). He played with Pat metheny in the 80s.

It is a Tobias growler he is playing? tobias Gibson??

Tobias Killer B if memory doesn't fail. The growler has a single MM pickup and no fretboard markings, this one has the two bartolini curved narrow soapbars and white dots.

In that same concert video he also uses a late 70s Stingray 4 string (with the 2 band preamp):

And yes, he's a genius.

Not a Killer B as far as I can tell. Looks like a neck through from the truss rid access, and I'm pretty sure they never made a Killer B that wasn't natural swamp ash or bubinga. Also I've never seen one with dots on the fretboard.

I agree that it's DEFINITELY not a Growler. It COULD be a Basic 5 though? Trying to discern an all black bass on a dark stage is maddening! LOL! If you stop the video at 1:58, you can see the truss rod cover, which, to me, is what distinguishes a Killer B from the neck-thru's. On the Killer B, the truss rod cover is as wide as the neck, on the neck-thru's, it's not that wide. The problem is that at the angle at 1:58, it's still hard to determine how wide the cover is?

On a related note, Pedro Aznar is AWESOME! Great playing, great tone, great feel, great SINGING! Very impressive! :bassist:

Found some more info... which doesn't clear it up at all :)

"En esta gira estoy usando cuatro bajos: un Tobias de 5 cuerdas (1992), un Music Man (1980), un Fanta Beaudoux fretless (1981) y un bajo guitarrón acústico fretless (1987, con un micrófono de contacto diseñado por Miguel Quezel)"

Translates to "In this tour I'm using four basses: A 5 String Tobias (1992), a MusicMan (1980), a Fanta Beaudoux fretless (1981) and an acoustic fretless guitarrón (1987 with a contact microphone designed by Miguel Quezel)".

He names brands, but not the models. If not a Killer B like lowfreq33 says, a Basic 5 then?

Found also another video with better lighting:

You can tell the finish is very dark blue instead of black. Also you can see that the truss rod cavity is not as wide as the neck (@41:14)
